BETA is a digital space dedicated to exploring the exciting synergies between design and technology. By providing readers with carefully curated content, we aspire to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical application, making the integration of design and technology approachable for everyone.
What can I find here?
​We publish bi-monthly issues focusing on critical topics at the intersection of design and technology, available as open access materials. Our articles are written by design researchers, practitioners and educators, in plain language, thus making them accessible to anyone regardless of skill or expertise.

BETA is also integrated with Design Tech Futures - an online community for design tech enthusiasts who would like to keep up with current trends, explore and shape the dynamic landscape of design and technology.​​

Our articles focus on five major theme at the intersection of design x tech​​
Design x Tech for Good. Articles exploring this theme are focused on using technology to design ethical, inclusive and sustainable futures. It includes articles on , accessibility, ethical practices, inclusive design, and responsible innovation.
The Future of Collaboration. Design practitioners and researchers explore the changing culture and infrastructure of design work. This includes collaborative tools and methods for distributed teams, co-design, open platforms, and new models of teamwork.
Inside the Mind. Articles focusing on this theme highlight how we study and support the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral aspects of both designers and users. This includes research-based and experiential insights into perception, cognition, decision-making and more.
​Designing with Emerging Tools. Here, we explore the following question - how are new technologies are transforming design workflows? This includes practical explorations of tools and platforms that extend or augment the designer’s capabilities.
Crossing Boundaries. This theme invites interdisciplinary exploration — where design intersects with fields like biology, neuroscience, speculative futures, or space, supporting original, boundary-pushing perspectives.
